Our program includes in-person and web-based coaching through the VDOT O2 app, as well as one biomechanical evaluation with a doctor of physical therapy per month. These services compliment each other so you get the most out of your training.

Coaching

Glenn Venturini is the head coach for the boys cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams at Strath Haven High School. Previously, Glenn was the CYO cross country and track coach at St John Chrysostom in Wallingford, Pa for 18 years. He was a high school state champion and a scholarship athlete at the University of Oklahoma. He earned a Master of Science in Education as an Exercise Physiologist from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters in Physical Therapy from Neumann University. Glenn's experience as a competitive runner, exercise physiologist and physical therapist give him a unique understanding of the human body, and how to optimize training to achieve one's full potential.

Biomechanical Assessment

Every month of your training is supplemented with a biomechanical assessment by a doctor of physical therapy at Optimum Physical Therapy Associates Swarthmore location. This information arms you, your coach, and the rest of our team with information about how to improve your performance. You will learn how to target areas of weakness, tightness, and address poor running form. Every month your progress will be re-evaluated to objectively measure the effectiveness of your training and progress your training.

Nutrition Counseling

Jeanie Subach is a Registered and Board-Certified Sports Specialist Dietitian, and faculty member in the department of Nutrition at West Chester University. She is also the sports nutritionist for the Philadelphia 76’ers, starting with the team in 1989. She held the role of team nutritionist for the Philadelphia Eagles under coach Andy Reid from 1999-2013, and for the Philadelphia Flyers from 1989 to 1997. Jeanie acts as the nutrition preceptor for the Sports Medicine Fellows in the Crozer Keystone Sport Medicine fellowship program. She uses food and cooking as vehicles to aid athletes of all ages and skill sets in meeting their nutritional and performance goals.

Patti Skahan is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in West Chester with over 30 years of experience. As a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, she works with college sports teams, all levels of athletes, and active individuals, helping them meet their goals for health and performance. In addition to providing nutrition guidance to her clients, Patti teaches Sports Nutrition at Immaculata University and provides seminars for local businesses. Patti combines science with applied experience to help active individuals implement a personalized nutrition plan to maximize their performance. As a runner, hiker, and mother of two college athletes, she provides guidance that is not only current and evidence-based but also practical.

Sports Psychology

Ciarán Dalton is a licensed sport/clinical psychologist practicing in Media, PA. He helps athletes maximize their performance through a variety of psychological techniques and strategies. He is experienced in sport-related psychological services to individuals, teams, and coaches, as well as other mental health services. Ciarán earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Immaculata University in August of 2011.

Ciarán played soccer professionally and earned a starting spot for the Cobh Ramblers in Ireland. He is now the assistant coach for the Swarthmore college soccer team. During his time with Swarthmore the team has won two Centennial Conference championships, three ECAC championships, earned five NCAA tournament bids, advanced to the round of 16 four times, and has produced four All-Americans, two Academic All-Americans, and one Centennial Conference Player of the Year, who signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Union.

The education and training he accrued while working toward his doctorate, as well as his extensive athletic and coaching experience at a high level give him a unique perspective on sport psychology.

Strength and Conditioning

Kevin Miller is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist as well as Licensed Massage Therapist. Since 2004 he has trained athletes ranging from professional soccer players (Philadelphia Union) to grade school athletes in all phases of sports performance. When it comes to program design Kevin takes a holistic look at every athlete he trains. Each program starts with an individual assessment to ensure that the program is tailored to meet the needs of his client. As an athlete himself, Kevin has finished 3 Ironman Triathlons as well as 9 Marathons (PR 3:07 Boston).
